Lower Secondary are a group of 11 pupils. We have a wide variety of individual needs and learning styles and these are met with individual timetables and appropriate group work. We enjoy different ways of learning, ranging from sensory to active strategies. We use all parts of the school for our learning, such as the food technology room, playground, hall, classroom, sensory room, hydrotherapy pool and other places in the local area.
Lower Secondary take part in shopping, swimming, sensory stories, sports afternoons and Art amongst a lot of other subjects. We develop our literacy skills and we learn about numbers and space, shape and measure in a mixture of ways including sensory input and active learning. We enjoy learning about the world around us and how it affects every one of us. We enjoy learning about the history of the world and how it affects us now in our current generation.
Some of our favourite activities include: Bikeability and parachute games where we take turns and work as a team; shopping and choosing our own drink in the café; learning how to use money in real life situations. We enjoy learning how to cook healthy food safely, making our own choices and developing our independence skills. Massage and other sensory activities help us relax and develop our relationships with others.
