Icknield Further Education Centre

219 Vigo Road Andover Hampshire SP10 1HP

Charity Number 1032873

The Icknield Trust was formed to provide a Further Education Centre in the community for young people from Icknield School aged 16 to 19, who all have learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities.

The Centre helps the students to learn new skills as they grow older. They can help to cook meals in the large kitchen and learn new IT skills in the computer room, as well as continue their usual studies. The Centre is ideally located for the students to access the town centre and local services.

The Trust leases the Centre to Hampshire County Council which maintains the external property.

Break Away fundraising campaign

The Further Education Centre has been a fantastic resource that has helped many students learn new skills and build their confidence.

However, it’s equally important that the students prepare for life after school and learn how to gain independence away from the routine and structure of the school day. That’s why many of the students and been on residential trips to Hoburne Naish Holiday Park in New Milton. Here the they learn life skills such as cooking, cleaning and shopping in a fun and safe environment.

The Trust has launched the Break Away campaign to raise £50,000 to purchase a permanent static home at Hoburne Naish. The home will be adapted for disabled access and made available all year round, so many more students can benefit.
